2. Academic Entry Requirements (By Curriculum)

Since the UAE has a diverse school system, Australian universities have specific “equivalent” scores:

  • British Curriculum: Minimum 2–3 A-Levels with grades ranging from BCC to AAA (depending on the course).
  • American High School Diploma: Minimum GPA of 2.8–3.0 + SAT scores (usually 1100+) or EmSAT equivalents.
  • IB Diploma: Scores between 26 and 38 points.
  • Indian Curriculum (CBSE/ISC): 70% to 90% in your best 4 academic subjects.
  • UAE Ministry of Education (Thanawiya): Usually requires a Foundation Year or a very high score (90%+) for direct entry into a Bachelor’s degree.


3. The “Genuine Student” (GS) Requirement 2026

As of 2026, the old GTE is replaced by the GS Requirement. You must answer targeted questions in your visa application:

  1. Why Australia? (And why not UAE or your home country?)
  2. Course Relevance: How does this specific degree link to your future career in the UAE?
  3. Ties to UAE: Evidence of family, assets, or job offers waiting for you back in Dubai/Abu Dhabi.


4. Financial Evidence for UAE Residents

The Australian Department of Home Affairs requires proof of “Liquid Funds.”

  • Single Student: You must show at least AUD 29,710 (~AED 72,000) for living expenses.
  • Additional Costs: You must also show the first year’s tuition fee + AUD 2,000 for flights.
  • Evidence Type: Bank statements (last 3–6 months), salary certificates of parents, or scholarship letters (especially for UAE National sponsored students).


5. Essential Document Checklist

  • [ ] Valid Passport (Minimum 6 months validity).
  • [ ] Academic Transcripts (Attested by the school and potentially MoE).
  • [ ] English Proficiency (IELTS/PTE/TOEFL).
  • [ ] SOP (Statement of Purpose) reflecting the 2026 GS criteria.
  • [ ] Medical Check-up: Must be done at a “Panel Physician” in the UAE (e.g., specific clinics in Jumeirah or Abu Dhabi).
  • [ ] OSHC (Health Insurance): Must be paid for the entire duration of the visa.


6. Important Deadlines (2026)

  • February Intake: Apply by October/November 2025.
  • July Intake: Apply by March/April 2026.
