Option 1: The “Standard” Path (After Lodgement)
This is the most common method. Once you have submitted your 485 application and paid the $4,600 fee, your HAP ID is generated automatically within your file.
- Log in to ImmiAccount and open your submitted 485 application.
- Navigate to the “View Details” section.
- Click on “Health Assessment” in the left-hand menu.
- Select “Organise Health Examinations.”
- Answer the basic medical history questions and click “Submit.”
- Click “Print Referral Letter.” Your HAP ID will be visible in the top right corner.
Option 2: The “Fast-Track” Path (Before Lodgement)
If you want your 485 visa granted as quickly as possible, you can use the My Health Declarations (MHD) service to do your medicals before you even submit your visa application.
- Log in to ImmiAccount and select “New Application.”
- Select “Health” and then “My Health Declarations.”
- Fill out the form stating you intend to apply for a Subclass 485 visa.
- Once submitted, you can generate your Referral Letter and HAP ID immediately.
- Important: When you finally lodge your 485 visa, you must enter this HAP ID into the application form so the department can find your existing results.
2026 HAP ID Checklist
| Action Item | Detail |
| Where to Book | Visit (if in Australia). |
| What to Bring | Your original Passport and a printed Referral Letter (with HAP ID). |
| Validity | Results are valid for 12 months (unless you have a 6-month health undertaking). |
| 2026 Costs | Approx. $340–$390 AUD for a standard medical + X-ray. |
3. Why Your HAP ID Might Not Be Showing
- “Health clearance provided”: If you see this in ImmiAccount, it means your medicals from a previous visa (like your Student Visa) are still valid and have been automatically reused. You do not need a new HAP ID.
- Paper Applications: If you didn’t lodge online (rare in 2026), you must wait for a case officer to manually mail or email you a “Requirement to Undertake Health Examinations” letter containing your HAP ID.
