To determine if your Bridging Visa B (BVB) allows for multiple entries, you must use the Department of Home Affairs’ Visa Entitlement Verification Online (VEVO) system. VEVO provides a real-time summary of your visa conditions, including the “travel facility” status.

How to Check Your BVB Travel Facility via VEVO

  1. Access the Portal: Go to the official VEVO login portal on the Department of Home Affairs website.
  2. Select Verification: Click on “Check your own visa details with VEVO.”
  3. Enter Your Credentials: You will need your Visa Grant Number or Transaction Reference Number (TRN), your date of birth, your passport or ImmiCard number, and the issuing country.
  4. View Your Conditions: Once logged in, you will see a summary of your visa. Look for the section labeled “Visa Conditions” or “Travel Facility.”
    • Multiple Entries: If your travel facility is “Multiple,” you are permitted to leave and re-enter Australia as many times as you like until the “Must enter Australia before” date.
    • Single Entry: If it specifies “Single,” you can only leave and return once. Once you have used that entry, the travel facility for that BVB ends.

Important Rules for BVB Travel

  • Validity Period: Your BVB travel facility is only valid until the specific date listed in VEVO. If you travel after this date, you will not be able to re-enter Australia on that visa.
  • Grant Letter vs. VEVO: While your original BVB grant letter outlines your conditions, always prioritize the information in VEVO, as it represents your current, real-time visa status.
  • Purpose of Travel: While a BVB is generally granted to allow travel for the reasons you specified in your application, you must return to Australia before the expiry date provided. If you do not return by the “Must enter Australia before” date, your BVB will typically expire, and you may lose your bridging status.
  • Need a New BVB? If your travel facility has already expired, or if you were only granted a “Single Entry” and need to travel again, you must apply for a new Bridging Visa B before you leave Australia. You cannot apply for a BVB while you are currently offshore.
