2. 2026 Medical Exam Costs

Fees are paid directly to the clinic and are not included in your visa fee. Prices in 2026 typically range between:

  • Standard Medical (Ages 15+): AED 500 – AED 850 (Includes physical exam, chest X-ray, and blood tests).
  • Child Medical (Under 15): AED 350 – AED 500.

Note: Prices may vary slightly if the physician requires additional specialist tests (e.g., for pre-existing conditions).



3. The “HAP ID” – Your Most Important Number

To book your appointment, you must have a HAP ID.

  • If you have already lodged: Your HAP ID is in the “Health Requirement” section of your ImmiAccount.
  • If you haven’t lodged yet: Complete the “My Health Declarations” form in ImmiAccount to generate a HAP ID upfront. This is the secret to “Front-Loading” your application for faster processing.



4. What to Bring to Your Appointment

  • [ ] Original Passport: The same one used for your visa application.
  • [ ] eMedical Referral Letter: Contains your HAP ID and barcode.
  • [ ] Spectacles/Contact Lenses: If you wear them for the vision test.
  • [ ] Medical History: Any previous reports or lists of current medications.
  • [ ] Vaccination Records: Especially for students entering healthcare or teaching fields.



5. Health Criteria: What are they looking for?

The 2026 assessment primarily screens for:

  1. Public Health Risks: Specifically Tuberculosis (TB) via chest X-ray.
  2. Significant Health Costs: Conditions that might cost the Australian taxpayer more than $86,000 AUD over 5 years.
  3. Blood-borne Diseases: HIV or Hepatitis (usually only for those studying Medicine, Nursing, or Dentistry).
